| ELES Mineral Makeup | Sixties Vibe | Makeup Look | Featuring International Blog Guest Sophie! |

ELES released the 'Sixties Vibe' collection late last year as a part of their Spring Look.

'This look is all about vibrant youthful eyes, with soft velvety shades of Aubergine and Purple. A strong eye look teamed with a flawless complexion and nude lip creates a modern take on a Bridgette Bardot style of beauty.'

I was kindly gifted these beautiful products from ELES along with a dreamy head garland and glam shades to help channel the inner Bridgette Bardot.

Today, I am bringing you a makeup look that is perfect for both the autumn and winter seasons. The 'Sixties Vibe' look is one that is versatile and very complementing to most skin & hair tones. I was sent 4 products in the 'Sixties Vibe' collection; Debutante Quad Shadow, Plum Crazy Dimensional Cake Liner, Coral Sun Mineral Blush, Nude Micro Bubble Lipstick.

The ethereal model featured for this 'Sixties Vibe' Makeup Look is Sophie. Backstory. Sophie is from The Netherlands. Sophie and I have been pen friends and 'real life' friends for more than 8 years now. Mr W and I were lucky enough to have Sophie stay with us in May whilst she travelled Australia.

Sophie is a self-admitted novice when it comes to makeup and its application. Therefore, we played around with some useful techniques and go-to looks that she can re-create on her side of the world :) I found the ELES 'Sixties Vibe' Look suited Sophie's colour palette perfectly. The purple and aubergine tones made her warm brown eyes pop. The nude lipstick was a favourite of Sophie's as she likes to keep her makeup simple and wants her lips to appear more full.

If you want to see how we created the 'Sixties Vibe' look then keep reading.

FACE: I began by priming the face and creating a flawless base for the makeup look. Although it's recommended to apply eye makeup before foundation (to avoid fallout) I did start with the base and took extra care when applying multiple shadows. If all else fails, a quick tidy up with some concealer under the eyes will fix it. Gentle contouring with a matte bronzer helped bring shape to the face. I used the ELES Colour Tides Mineral Shimmering Powder applied to cheekbones to create a highlight and finished the face by setting with the ELES Mineral Powder Foundation, both products previously reviewed on Profound Feline can be seen HERE.

EYES: Using the ELES Debutante Shadow Quad Palette.

Step 1. Begin by applying the second darkest shade (pale purple shimmer) along the eye lid, pat the colour gently and then blend edges to soften.

Step 2.  Apply the darkest shade (deep aubergine matte) in the outer corner of the eye blending up into a V-shape and into the crease line. Build the colour slowly, concentrating colour on the outer of the eye. Blend the edges well to soften and "smoke out" the look.

Step 3. Apply the second lightest shade (grey taupe shimmer) beneath the lower lashes. I applied to the outer 2/3 of the bottom lash line to create a more "open-eyed" appearance.

Step 4.  Apply the lightest shade (subtle light pink shimmer) on the inner corner of the eye near the tear duct and beneath the lower lashes (about 1/3 of the way in) furthermore opening up the eye area - a great tip for people with smaller looking eyes. Sweep a small amount under the brows to highlight and add extra dimension.

For Sophie's brows I used 'Omega' eye shadow from MAC with an angled eye brush. I find it is great for blondes and light brunettes as it is ash toned and very build-able. ELES also have numerous shades of brow pencils and powders available HEREI have previously reviewed the Brow Blender on Profound Feline. The full review of the ELES Brow Blender Pencil can be seen HERE.

EYES: ELES Dimensional Cake Liner in Plum Crazy

Step 1. Using a wet liner brush pick up some colour from the left side of the duo (deep burgundy matte) and press into the upper lash line tapering out to create a soft wing in the outer corner of the eye.

Step 2. Using the same brush (no need to re-wet as it is applied dry) take the shimmery deep purple shade on the right of the duo and press into the line for added sparkle.

I completed the eye look with 2 luscious coats of BENEFIT's They're Real Mascara to the top lashes focusing on lifting the outer lashes to add more to the 'cat-eyed' look. I kept the lower lashes bare to again help open up the eye area and create a more wearable daytime look.

CHEEKS: ELES Mineral Blush in Coral Sun

Using a blush brush apply Coral Sun Mineral Blush to the apples of the cheeks, creating a beautiful natural glow to the skin. I find it helps to add blush as almost a final step in a makeup look. This way you can adjust the depth of colour you want according to your eye makeup / lipstick colours.

LIPS: ELES Micro Bubble Lipstick in Nude

Apply Nude Micro Bubble Lipstick to the lips for a soft and full pout. I applied one coat, blotted with tissue, and applied another coat, achieving a matte finish.

Sophie working the accessories! I am in love with the rose head garland :)

Another ELES feature. On Sophie's nails she is wearing 'Peppermint Cream' from the newly launched ELES Brighton Collection.

Peace, love & serenity.

We hope you enjoyed this look:)

Liefde "love" and kisses from Sophie and I to you!

| HAUL | MAC from New York City | Thank you Sarah abeautifulstory.net |

Hello everyone,

This post has been sitting in my blogger drafts for some time now. I don't know how I forgot to post it! (^.^) It's another HAUL POST - but actually these items were purchased late last year.

As many know, MAC in Australia is pretty pricey. Sad but true! :'( Therefore, the beautiful Sarah from the aptly named abeautifulstory.net was kind enough to pick up a few MAC goodies for me whilst on her travels in America. Before she left Sarah asked if any Adelaide Beauty Blogger ladies wanted beauty items from the US. We kindly obliged :) Top of the list was the LORAC Pro Palette - but this turned out to be the elusive unicorn of the beauty shelves. Instead, I opted for a few MAC items that have been on my MUST TRY list for some time now.

I decided upon just a few MAC treats:

♡ MAC Girl About Town (Amplified Creme) Lipstick

MAC Naked Lunch (Frost) Eyeshadow

MAC Omega (Matte) Eyeshadow

♡ MAC Naked Lunch (Frost) Eyeshadow

♡ MAC Omega (Matte) Eyeshadow
♡ MAC Girl About Town (Amplified Creme) Lipstick

The Swatches

L-R: Naked Lunch eyeshadow (frost) / Omega eyeshadow (matte) / Girl About Town lipstick (amplified creme). Pictures taken in natural light.

Have you tried any of these MAC products?

| Red Alert | Favourite Red Lipsticks | Lancome | MAC | Revlon | Arbonne | [Photo Heavy]

Hello everyone,

Thank you for the amazing feedback on my previous Valentine's inspired vintage makeup post. I love getting feedback from you!

Would you like to see more makeup look posts?

I hope you all enjoyed a special Valentine's Day. Single or smitten, I hope you were showered with love. I enjoyed a delicious & relaxed dinner with Mr W at our favourite restaurant (where we went on our first date). We sat alfresco and were able to enjoy the cool evening breeze. A pleasure after the heatwave we have been experiencing in South Australia of late. I'm very much looking forward to autumn weather.

Today's post is a feature ALL about my Favourite Red Lipsticks. In fact, it was inspired by the vibrant yet deep red tones of the roses I received on Valentine's Day! As soon as I lay eyes upon my roses, my mind instantly thought - Ruby Woo! MAC Ruby Woo lipstick is a deep, cool toned matte red & one of my most favourite reds of all time.

What are your favourite red lipsticks?

*Lancome Color Fever Avant Garde Red 151

♡ MAC Ruby Woo

*Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Fire & Ice 720

*Arbonne Runway Rouge

Left - Right: Lancome Avant Garde Red 151 / MAC Ruby Woo / Revlon Fire & Ice / Arbonne Runway Rouge.

Breaking into the red rouge world can be daunting......

Here are 6 simple steps to help get started:

  • Be precise - Red lipstick should never be applied casually. Unless it's an ultra sheer formula, like a Revlon Lip Butter. A top precision tip is to use a fine-tip lipstick brush. A steady hand, and patience is a must.
  • Accentuate eyes OR lips NOT both - Although it may seem a good idea at the time, you may end up looking over-done. Keep it simple by choosing eyes OR lips as the focus of your makeup look.
  • Avoid deep reds if you have thin lips - Deep shades of red accentuate the look of fine lips. Instead use a sheer red lipstick in cherry or coral red for a flattering shade. Even better, add shine and plumpness to lips with some gloss over lipstick.
  • Prevent lipstick "bleeding" - Using lip pencil prior to applying lipstick is your best chance at preventing "bleeding". A final touch of concealer around the border of your mouth will also accentuate lip colour and create a crisp line.
  • Consider the lighting - Pick a sheerer shade for daytime or the outdoors. In the evening, go bold and bright.
  • Co-ordinate your look - Complete your makeup look by dotting and blending a little of your lipstick colour on the apples of your cheeks for a youthful appearance. But remember to blend blend blend.
  • Avoid lipstick on your teeth - After lipstick application, put your finger in your mouth, form your lips around your finger, then slowly remove finger to shed excess lipstick colour.
Feeling bold?

MAC Ruby Woo

"Ruby Woo is a blue-based red with a matte finish and nearly opaque colour coverage. It’s one of the driest lipsticks I’ve ever used. It does pull and drag slightly, but it wears beautifully. Is drying after a few hours of wear - a lip treatment will be needed after wearing this one. But sadly, I think it is worth it!" :)

A previous post featuring swatches and a full review can be seen via this link:

"Runway Rouge is a ravishing coral red. This lipstick can be worn sheerly, or built up to an intense colour. It has a slight sparkle that is visible when you remove the lipstick. Runways Rouge is easy to apply, moisturising and doesn't feather on the lips."

Will dare to wear red this weekend?

| The Apocalips |

The Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquers were released onto beauty shelves with much fanfare from beauty bloggers globally. For good reason. Attractive packaging. Great pigmentation. Affordable price. Impressive colour selection. Tick...tick...tick...and tick!

Australia got eight shades in total with only few variations to those available in the UK. Whilst "beauty researching" the Rimmel Apocalips collection I chose 'Big Bang' (a stunning true red) as my pick of the bunch. Sadly, this shade is not available in Australia. BUT save your tears, it is easily purchased from online retailer asos and FREE shipping!

I purchased the colours Apocaliptic (a bright blue-based fuschia pink) & Stellar (vibrant coral pink). I have had these two in my collection for some months now, but to be honest I haven't reached for them very often. They are a fantastic product, but I don't have complete confidence in them yet. After application on almost every occasion I have experienced either: transfer of product onto my teeth, smearing, or a slight bleeding of product into fine lip creases.

After experimentation I have discovered some application techniques that do help. First, start by applying a light coat, dab excess with a tissue, and apply a second light coat. Also, lining the lips with a lip liner can help with product bleeding. Presto!

Okay, enough faffing about from me, let's get to the swatches shall we? :)

 Rimmel Apocalips in Apocaliptic

Rimmel Apocalips in Stellar

Which colour is your favourite? Team PINK or team RED?

I personally love the pink :)

ABOVE: A light swatch taken in natural light.

TOP Stellar BOTTOM Apocaliptic.

BELOW: you can see the stain left behind on skin after removing the product with a tissue.

Reason #1: it’s got the colour of a lipstick

Are you like me and love a bright, bold lip? Then you certainly won’t be let down in this department. Pure colour pigments ensure your lips are coated in vibrant hues.

Reason #2: it’s got the shine of a lip gloss

If you’re a gloss girl this product if for you as well! The Apocalips offer the lips shine yet without the stickiness of a gloss.

Reason #3: it’s got the nourishing qualities of a lip balm

The creamy texture of the lacquer means your lips are being conditioned and moisturised.

Reason #4:  it’s got the staying power of a lip stain

A tip? Apply the lacquer and leave the formula to fully set before eating or drinking. It’ll make a huge difference!

Reason #5: it's all about choice!

A shade to suit just about everyone. With eight shades to choose from, there is something to help you achieve whatever look you are after. Nudes, pinks, reds! I dare you to just try and choose one!

I would recommend you try them out in store OR pick one up and see how it works for you! Love or hate them, you cannot deny they are a beautifully packaged and pigmented products. Enjoy!

Do you own any of the Rimmel Apocalips

I would love to hear of your experiences with this lip product!

Take care & love,
