| HAUL | MAC from New York City | Thank you Sarah abeautifulstory.net |

Hello everyone,

This post has been sitting in my blogger drafts for some time now. I don't know how I forgot to post it! (^.^) It's another HAUL POST - but actually these items were purchased late last year.

As many know, MAC in Australia is pretty pricey. Sad but true! :'( Therefore, the beautiful Sarah from the aptly named abeautifulstory.net was kind enough to pick up a few MAC goodies for me whilst on her travels in America. Before she left Sarah asked if any Adelaide Beauty Blogger ladies wanted beauty items from the US. We kindly obliged :) Top of the list was the LORAC Pro Palette - but this turned out to be the elusive unicorn of the beauty shelves. Instead, I opted for a few MAC items that have been on my MUST TRY list for some time now.

I decided upon just a few MAC treats:

♡ MAC Girl About Town (Amplified Creme) Lipstick

MAC Naked Lunch (Frost) Eyeshadow

MAC Omega (Matte) Eyeshadow

♡ MAC Naked Lunch (Frost) Eyeshadow

♡ MAC Omega (Matte) Eyeshadow
♡ MAC Girl About Town (Amplified Creme) Lipstick

The Swatches

L-R: Naked Lunch eyeshadow (frost) / Omega eyeshadow (matte) / Girl About Town lipstick (amplified creme). Pictures taken in natural light.

Have you tried any of these MAC products?

| Red Alert | Favourite Red Lipsticks | Lancome | MAC | Revlon | Arbonne | [Photo Heavy]

Hello everyone,

Thank you for the amazing feedback on my previous Valentine's inspired vintage makeup post. I love getting feedback from you!

Would you like to see more makeup look posts?

I hope you all enjoyed a special Valentine's Day. Single or smitten, I hope you were showered with love. I enjoyed a delicious & relaxed dinner with Mr W at our favourite restaurant (where we went on our first date). We sat alfresco and were able to enjoy the cool evening breeze. A pleasure after the heatwave we have been experiencing in South Australia of late. I'm very much looking forward to autumn weather.

Today's post is a feature ALL about my Favourite Red Lipsticks. In fact, it was inspired by the vibrant yet deep red tones of the roses I received on Valentine's Day! As soon as I lay eyes upon my roses, my mind instantly thought - Ruby Woo! MAC Ruby Woo lipstick is a deep, cool toned matte red & one of my most favourite reds of all time.

What are your favourite red lipsticks?

Breaking into the red rouge world can be daunting......

Here are 6 simple steps to help get started:

  • Be precise - Red lipstick should never be applied casually. Unless it's an ultra sheer formula, like a Revlon Lip Butter. A top precision tip is to use a fine-tip lipstick brush. A steady hand, and patience is a must.
  • Accentuate eyes OR lips NOT both - Although it may seem a good idea at the time, you may end up looking over-done. Keep it simple by choosing eyes OR lips as the focus of your makeup look.
  • Avoid deep reds if you have thin lips - Deep shades of red accentuate the look of fine lips. Instead use a sheer red lipstick in cherry or coral red for a flattering shade. Even better, add shine and plumpness to lips with some gloss over lipstick.
  • Prevent lipstick "bleeding" - Using lip pencil prior to applying lipstick is your best chance at preventing "bleeding". A final touch of concealer around the border of your mouth will also accentuate lip colour and create a crisp line.
  • Consider the lighting - Pick a sheerer shade for daytime or the outdoors. In the evening, go bold and bright.
  • Co-ordinate your look - Complete your makeup look by dotting and blending a little of your lipstick colour on the apples of your cheeks for a youthful appearance. But remember to blend blend blend.
  • Avoid lipstick on your teeth - After lipstick application, put your finger in your mouth, form your lips around your finger, then slowly remove finger to shed excess lipstick colour.
Feeling bold?

Lancome Color Fever Avant Garde Red 151

  • Availability: Hard to find.
  • Finish: Matte
  • Color: Red
  • Undertone: Cool
  • Price: $39 AUD

"Long wearing with no discolouring, this lipstick delivers a matte finish for a more natural look. It is enriched with jojoba oil which helps the lips feel moist after hours of wear."

MAC Ruby Woo

  • Availability: Permanent MAC line
  • Finish: Matte
  • Color: Red
  • Undertone: Cool
  • Price: $36 AUD

"Ruby Woo is a blue-based red with a matte finish and nearly opaque colour coverage. It’s one of the driest lipsticks I’ve ever used. It does pull and drag slightly, but it wears beautifully. Is drying after a few hours of wear - a lip treatment will be needed after wearing this one. But sadly, I think it is worth it!" :)

Revlon Fire & Ice

  • Undertone: Warm (Coral-Red)

"A very creamy orangey- red lipstick. It is very bright and feels moisturising on my lips. I think everyone should try Fire and Ice at least once! It's so accessible, wallet-friendly, and it's fun to have a lipstick that changes colour depending on the wearer & their skin tone."

Arbonne Runway Rouge

  • Availability: Permanent Arbonne lipstick line
  • Finish: Satin
  • Color: Red
  • Undertone: Warm (coral-red)
  • Price: $37 AUD

A previous post featuring swatches and a full review can be seen via this link:

"Runway Rouge is a ravishing coral red. This lipstick can be worn sheerly, or built up to an intense colour. It has a slight sparkle that is visible when you remove the lipstick. Runways Rouge is easy to apply, moisturising and doesn't feather on the lips."

Will dare to wear red this weekend?

♡ Valentine's Series ♡ Too Faced | Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow | Review & Swatches |

Hi everyone,

Today's post is the first in a week dedicated to all things romantic, sweet, and Valentine
Valentine's Day is only a few days away, and I have been working on some fun posts!

In December last year I purchased the Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow and have reached for it so often I knew I had to share my love for it with you! If you love a blush that offers versatility, radiance & glow, then keep on reading.

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush - Candy Glow

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush ($42.95 AUD 5.5g - Mecca Cosmetica)

The Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush is described as a “rose pink shimmer,” “soft coral pink,” and “peachy pink shimmer.” It can be used all together or with an emphasis on one or more shades, creating a “custom flush or highlight.” It is marketed as a baked formula, build-able in colour, and appropriate for all skin tones.

I have a light to light-medium skin tone and I have found Candy Glow perfect for my complexion. If you have a medium complexion it may transfer as a subtle shade, but beautiful never the less. Deeper complexions I think will find it lacking pigmentation. Sweethearts lasts a full day (8 hours) on me. Infused with Lingonberry Extract helps to brighten the skin and impart a radiant glow. The blush sat very well on the skin and didn't look powdery or emphasise my pores (thankfully) :)

Hello Sweet Cheeks!

Sweethearts comes together as a soft, diffused, light-medium pink with a subtle shimmer-sheen finish. I have been wearing the shades all 'swirled' together mostly, but it is a versatile product. Individual colour sections of the blush can be worn independently, so let's break down the three colours available; pink, coral and peach.

The pink shade is a pop of light-medium pink with subtle cool undertones and a soft, shimmery finish. It has a good colour payoff, and soft texture.

The coral shade is a coral-orange with barely-there sheen. The colour itself was gorgeous but appeared less buttery in texture to the other shades. Slightly odd.
The peach shade is more of a pinky-peach with a frosted shimmer-sheen finish. It has fantastic colour payoff, and it had the best texture of ALL three shades presented.

The Swatches

Swatches taken under artificial lighting

Bottom to top: Pink / Coral / Peach / Mixture of ALL colours, Candy Glow.
Swatches taken in natural light

Left to right: Pink / Coral / Peach / Mixture of ALL colours, Candy Glow.

Pro's:

  • Stunning vintage inspired packaging. A pleasure to display on your beauty desk
  • Protective packaging protects blush from damage
  • The baked formula creates minimal mess and fuss - no loose powders
  • 3 shades offer variety for a range of looks - use alone or all together
  • Fantastic pigmentation
  • Lasting power. A good 8 hours of wear
  • Gives a healthy radiant flush to the cheeks
  • Did not look powdery or emphasise pores
  • Vegan friendly
  • Paraben FREE!
  • Against animal testing & 100% cruelty FREE!

Con's:
  • Slight sparkle to the cheek. I'm not saying chunky glitter, but sparkle is visible
  • Consistency of all 3 shades differs, but all are of a high standard
  • Availability - online shopping is your best avenue. Especially if you can get free shipping
  • Price-point! It is pretty pricey at almost $50 AUD. My best tip is to wait for a SALE :)

Would you wear the Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow?

Shades Available:
  • Candy Glow – Rose pink shimmer, soft coral pink and peachy pink shimmer.
  • Something About BerryShimmering mauve pink, golden peach and shimmering magenta pink. I would be very interested in purchasing 'Something About Berry' for a deeper berry cheek look for autumn / winter.
'Something About Berry'

  • Peach BeachShimmering peach, rosy pink and shimmering light golden bronze. 'Peach Beach' could be worn as a gold-toned highlighting product, or all over for a bronzed look.
'Peach Beach'

If you are interested in purchasing 'Candy Glow' it is currently on SALE for only $36.90 AUD through the BeautyBay website with FREE international shipping! Alternatively, if you like the look of 'Something About Berry' OR 'Peach Beach' they can currently be found on the ASOS website with FREE shipping as well. Happy shopping!
